Tasting & Pairing

A Sensory Experience

To taste Ganja Wine is to taste Azerbaijan

Every glass of Ganja Wine tells the story of the place it came from — the fertile soils of the Ganja region, the warm continental days, the cool nights that preserve freshness and complexity. Learning to read that story is one of the great pleasures of wine.

Tasting Guide

What to look for in the glass

Wine tasting
01The Eye

Ganja White shows a pale straw-gold colour with a bright, clear appearance. The red is a deep, vibrant ruby. The rosé is a delicate pale salmon. In all cases, look for clarity and brilliance — hallmarks of careful winemaking.

02The Nose

The nose is expressive and inviting — ripe fruits and delicate floral notes are characteristic of all Ganja wines. The white offers citrus and white flowers; the red, dark fruits and subtle spice; the rosé, fresh red berries.

03The Palate

On the palate, Ganja Wine is balanced, smooth, and harmonious. The white is crisp and refreshing; the red is full-bodied with well-rounded tannins; the rosé is dry and lively. All share a smooth texture and refined character.

04The Finish

The finish is long and refined — a lingering expression of the Ganja terroir. The Reserve wines in particular show exceptional length, with layers of complexity that continue to develop in the glass long after the first sip.

Serving Guide

How to serve Ganja Wine

Temperature

Serve at the right temperature

White and rosé wines are best served at 8–10°C. Red wines show their best at 16–18°C. The Reserve red benefits from slightly warmer service at 17–19°C to allow its complexity to fully open up.

The Glass

Choose the right glass

Use a wide-bowled white wine glass for the white and rosé, and a standard red wine glass for the red. A larger bowl allows the wine to breathe and concentrates the aromas for a fuller tasting experience.

Decanting

Reserve wines benefit from air

Young white and rosé wines need no decanting. The Reserve red, however, benefits from 30–60 minutes in a decanter before serving — this allows the wine to open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.

Storage

Store with care

Store bottles on their side at 12–14°C, away from light and vibration. A consistent temperature is more important than the exact degree. Avoid storing near heat sources or in areas with strong odours.

Pairing Inspiration

Inspired combinations from our table

Ganja White

Grilled sea bass with herbs & lemon

The crisp acidity and delicate floral notes of Ganja White are the perfect complement to simply grilled fish. A drizzle of good olive oil, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of lemon complete the picture.

Ganja Red

Slow-roasted lamb with Azerbaijani spices

The smooth tannins and ripe fruit of Ganja Red are a natural match for slow-roasted lamb seasoned with the aromatic spices of Azerbaijani cuisine — saffron, coriander, and dried barberries.

Ganja Reserve

Traditional plov with saffron & dried fruits

Azerbaijan's most celebrated dish — fragrant saffron rice with lamb, dried apricots, and chestnuts — finds its ideal partner in the depth and complexity of the Ganja Reserve.
